Prayer of hope for struggling businesses

Jaco and Jean-Marie Dicksen pray for business to pick up.

God’s Army, a Randfontein NGO, has taken the lead in praying for better business and economic growth, not only in Randfontein, but also in the whole of South Africa.

The organisation, which said many societal ills are caused by the weakening economy and closure of many businesses in the country, held a prayer session for all in Greenhills on Saturday, 7 July.

Channy Wessels led the prayers at the God’s Army prayer mass prayer meeting.

Hennie Marais, chairman of the NGO said, “Businesses all over South Africa are struggling, and many have had to shut down.

“We decided to gather here to make a difference and pray to God, so that things can change for the better,” he said.

He said the prayer meeting, that was attended by a hundred guests, also sought to encourage business people whose businesses have remained stagnant.

“We want to see an improvement in the economy in every corner of the country,” he said.

He said the dying businesses and shrinking economy are depriving many citizens of job opportunities.

Victor Dube says his prayer as he hopes to help business and the economy to improve.

“When businesses are shut down, families start to struggle and this is what we want God to help us prevent.”

Asked why he embarked on this move, Hennie said he felt the need to do so, as he believes that he was sent by God to host the prayer.

“I don’t want to see the country getting to a point where its children resort to crime and doing drugs, but this may be where we end up,” Hennie added.
