Itumeleng School For Severely Mentally Handicapped got a big surprise when Ubank handed over six electric stoves for their newly refurbished kitchen on 9 March.

The relationship between Ubank and this LSEN school started in August 2017 when an employee at the bank’s Westonaria Branch was instrumental to the school becoming part of the Ubank CSI Khulanathi Project.

The employees of Ubank, which operates primarily within the gold and platinum mining communities, have contributed R14 400 to this project from their own pockets.

The intention of this exercise is to build long-term relationship with the school and to add value in our community. Itumeleng’s learners are severely mentally handicapped and the school welcomed this initiative with a positive spirit,” said Wendy Shabangu, Public Relations and Communication Manager of Ubank.

Itumeleng’s Deputy Principal, Zoleka Joyi said, “We have many needs to address with limited resources. Your donation is crucial and it will lead to a positive change in the lives of children living with different disabilities.”

Community development, empowering and participation remain at the core of how Ubank conducts business. This partnership is very important to the bank since it is about caring for customers and communities.
