#NewYearsEveMurder: Drama at alleged killer’s court appearance

The scene after the court appearance, when the police was called in.

Drama unfolded at the Randfontein Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, 9 January when the ex-boyfriend and alleged killer of Danél Rooskrans made his second appearance.

The Herald attended proceedings and even before he was to appear, angry family members and friends of Rooskrans were told by the magistrate to leave the courtroom as they were too noisy. The crowd then kept quiet but the magistrate was still not satisfied.

Police had to be called in for assistance to explain to the crowd that they just needed to keep quiet while the court was in session. Someone inside the courtroom then yelled that the case was being heard in another courtroom without the crowd allegedly being informed. They then ran to the other courtroom but in the end, only family members were allowed inside where proceedings finally started.
