“It is alleged that two men entered the tavern, and shortly afterwards the sound of gunfire was heard. One customer was left lying on the floor with a gunshot wound in his upper body, while another was shot in the lower body. A third customer was badly assaulted and robbed of cash.
“The injured people were taken to hospital for medical treatment. One of them unfortunately died as a result of the injuries caused by the gunshot. The suspects are still at large with an undisclosed amount of cash.”
A case of murder, attempted murder, business robbery and assault with the intention to cause grievous bodily harm is being investigated.
“We are appealing to the community to assist with any information that could lead to the arrest of the perpetrators and urge them not to try and apprehend the suspects as they are deemed to be armed and dangerous,” said Colonel Moonsammy, Westonaria Police station commander.
