“The residents of Waterpan started their community patrol groups in 2014,” said Sergeant Linkie Lefakane, Bekkersdal Police spokesperson.

The chairperson of the group, Johan van Wyk said, “We are 18 active patrollers in Waterpan and we are grateful for these uniforms”.

The uniforms were handed over during a monthly meeting. The community members are grateful for the initiative their coordinator has taken and appreciate the uniforms.

“They said the criminals must watch out,” said Van Wyk.
