A 39-year-old man has been arrested after police found 100 pills suspected to be drugs hidden inside a salt container at his Bekkersdal home.

The police received a tip-off on Friday, 6 January and at 9pm, they got a team together to follow up on the lead.

According to Sergeant Linkie Lefakane, the Bekkersdal Intervention Unit proceeded to the man’s home in Simunye and requested permission to search his home.

“During the search, the [police] discovered 100 pills suspected to be drugs stuffed inside a salt container on top of a cupboard,” Lefakane explained.

The man could not give a reasonable explanation for the tablets to the police and was charged for being in possession of substances suspected to be drugs.

The man appeared before the Westonaria Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 9 January.
